One day, three great events

We have three events coming up on June 1st. the DRAHS Spring Flower Show, Incredible Edible’s First Annual Plant-a-rama, and the Deep River Farmer’s Market 2013 Opening Day. The Flower Show and Plant-a-rama both require volunteers to make these events successes. If you are interested in helping out on Friday, May 31st or Saturday, June 1st, please comment and I will send you more details.

Spring Flower Show
The Society’s Spring Flower Show is being held on Saturday, June 1st at the Town Hall with public viewing from 12:30 to 3 p.m.

Exhibits may be placed Friday night May 31st from 5 – 6 p.m. and on Saturday morning between 8 – 11 a.m. Exhibitors are requested to pick up their entries between 3 – 3:30 p.m. The Show Schedule (previously sent electronically to members) is available from Show Co-ordinator Patti Szostak at 613-584-1320.

We are hoping to have a great display of flowers, herbs, shrubs and design classes in the show. The theme of the Decorative Class Division is “Springing into Summer”.

You are invited to come enjoy the sights and smells of beautiful spring flowers, herbs, shrubs and see which plants grow well in Deep River and area.

Plant-a-rama
In the morning, we will be preparing our bed, tidying out the old one, and starting to prep the bench for painting.  We will have a free lunch BBQ for volunteers. (If you are a vegetarian, let me know.) In the afternoon, we will be planting and painting.

Dress to get dirty and for the weather. Bring bug spray.

If you can (and want), please bring any of the following:
Tools like shovels, rakes, paint brushes etc. (Roto-tiller PLEASE!)
Plants to Donate
Mulch
Compost
Food to share for BBQ

The more the merrier! Please feel free to come for only part of the day. Even an hour of your time will make a BIG difference.

In addition, the Deep River Farmer’s Market will be open in the Town Hall’s parking lot starting at 10 a.m.

Please plan to attend these great events.
